How Toothpaste Works

Learning instructions

This module will be completed in groups of 3.

Part 1

For the first part of this module, you will be assigned a video to watch that will teach you about how toothpastes work. The video will detail 2 out of 6 of the main ingredients used in toothpastes. After the video, you will complete a short formative assessment to clarify misconceptions about the video. This assessment will not be graded.

Part 2

After watching the video, you will engage in a classroom activity where you will be responsible for teaching the other group members about the ingredients that were assigned to you. You won’t be allowed to show them your video. So remember to take notes when watching.

Part 3

After teaching each other, you will be assigned a task as a group in which you will be in charge of the parts that are not in your video. You will be asked to evaluate your work according to a checklist provided by the teacher. This activity counts part of your final score.

Part 4

You will be required to do a post-test to examine your learning outcome. Your final score will be calculated in the proportion below:

Individual score of the post test: 45%
Group average score of the post-test: 30%
In class group activity: 25%

Now watch the video below. Pay special attention to humectant and detergent. Your group members will count on you!
